2. The #1 worst storm of 2025 worldwide.

3. The #1 worst storm in Jamaica's recorded history (Hurricane Gilbert, by comparison, hit the island in 1988 as a Category 3).

4. The name Melissa has now been retired from storm naming rotation by the World Meteorological Organization due to the deadly force of this storm.

*Per post-hurricane season analysis, 2025's Hurricane Melissa was even worse than it at first appeared and revised data has upgraded it to #1 worst tropical cyclone in recorded history, tied with 2019's Hurricane Dorian (Bahamas) and 1935's Labor Day Hurricane (United States).
